After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in 1989, Bill Janovitz became a full-time musician with his college band, the international recording and touring artists Buffalo Tom. While the band continues to perform and record music to this day, Bill decided in 2001 to apply the entrepreneurial lessons learned by running and marketing the band toward marketing homes and negotiating real estate transactions. An interest in the town of Lexington schools attended by his children, the town’s wide range of significant historic architecture (from Colonial Saltboxes to the pioneering mid-century modernism of the Six Moon Hill and Peacock Farm neighborhoods), and its recreational amenities made Bill a great resource for buyers and sellers throughout the area.

In 2005, Bill formed a listing and marketing partnership with John Tse as we were both recruited from Coldwell Banker to the office that has become Hammond Residential. John and Bill are honored to be part of such a respected, locally-focused, and highly professional real estate practice. The team lists and sells in most western suburbs and cities, from Cambridge outward along Routes 2 and 128.

Bill and John Tse are regarded as the top specialists for mid-century-modernist houses in Boston's western suburbs (see: www.Modernmass.com). In fact, sellers of these homes from all over the state and interested buyers literally from around the world call them on a regular basis. In addition, they are well-versed in all architectural styles and price ranges, from modest capes to new construction.

Bill’s extracurricular interests include music and he is a published author (The Rolling Stones: Exile on Main Street; Continuum Books; 2004). A love of literature, film, time with his family, and cycling are other interests of Bill’s. In 2011, he began writing a blog about real estate for Boston Magazine's web site.

He is deeply involved as a founder and current board member of the 11-year-running Hot Stove Cool Music benefit for the Foundation To Be Named Later (part of the Red Sox Foundation). Hosted by Baseball Hall of Famer, Peter Gammons; Red Sox General Manager, Theo Epstein; and actor, Mike O'Malley, this highly successful event has contributed many hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly to local youth and homeless-related services such as the Home for Little Wanderers, Horizons for Homeless Children, and the Red Sox Scholars.
